Day 22 & 23

As I said the other day I got really sick waiting in the crowd to get on a tender.  I did our tour in Easter Island came back got changed went for pictures and to the Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle.  We then headed for dinner and as I was eating I could feel my stomach getting sicker and sicker.  So I went back to the cabin and was quite ill and stayed there all the next day and slept on and off and only had tea and toast.  It was a formal night and I hate to miss them but was too sick to get out of bed, I had to cancel my personal trainer and I missed one of our computer lessons.

Today was another sea day as we make our way to Pitcairn Island.  I was asked to be a model in Hubert’s Jewelry fashion show and even though I was not 100% I had given my word so I got myself together and went.  I was draped in almost $500,000 worth of rubies and diamonds, the ring alone was a 12 carat ruby!  I loved every minute of it and felt so naked when I had to give the jewelry back!

Somehow there was some confusion as we got a phone call that we were suppose to have dinner in Silk Road with someone else.  Well we don’t know who the someone else is?  Today of all days Silk Road (Nobu’s) is not on my preferred list as I still have not had anything but beef broth for lunch.  I will have to ask Antonio tomorrow who I was suppose to have dinner with because they never told me!  I was worried that it was for Ilene’s birthday and I missed it but I ran into them after dinner and that is the 11^th.  So who was it with and why didn’t they tell me?????

Tomorrow we cruise by Pitcairn Island the home of Mutiny on the Bounty and we are not allowed to dock.  There are only 43 people who live here and a good majority of them will come aboard and sell their homemade crafts.  It is too dangerous for the tenders.  Even the mayor will be onboard.  This should be interesting.  We do get our passports stamped since we are stopping and letting them on!  We then have 2 sea days and then Papeete, Tahiti I am so looking forward to finding an internet café as the internet has been non existence.  It keeps telling me I am connected and when I try to open something it says you are not connected.  I even had Jackie in the computer room tell me it was bad!

We are having a great time except for the fiasco trying to get to tenders in Easter Island.  Now I know I can’t take crowds for sure!

Unfortunately Bill did not get a shot of the gorgeous diamond bracelet!  I was in heaven even considered jumping overboard! HA HA

Day 21 Easter Island, Chile

Today we tendered off Easter Island.  This am was not a good day for me. There was some discussion as to if we were going to be able to get over to the Island as the water was really choppy. We were suppose to anchor at  8am our tour was scheduled to leave at 8:30.  Unfortunately there was an almost 2 hour delay and the line for the tender was really long and crowded, as we had to move the ship a couple of times due to bad waves.  As I was waiting on the stairs to get down to the tender platform I could feel me becoming faint.  I was able to lean against the wall and Stacey the WC hostess was 3 people in front of me.  One of the women noticed I was going down and she made everyone move and Stacey took me to a chair on the tender landing.  Meanwhile Bill was 3 people behind and no one was letting him come down.  Leo the Maître D was waiting for the tender and he came running over to me and got me water.  He made the people move so Bill could be with me and they got me on the tender, which was going up and down.  It felt like we were hitting the statues under the water.   I have never been so happy to get off in my life.  I knew that I have a little claustrophobia but this was a full-blown case where I almost passed out and was sweating and nauseas.  It took all day for me to feel better.  We had a tour to the Morias (statues) and the local market. We were taken in vans I was lucky as I got a seat up front I could not be in the back as I was still shaking and sweating.  It is amazing to think that these statutes are from 1400 ad.  It was really great to see them.  We then headed to the marketplace.  They had some very nice wooden things but their prices were insane.  A nice salad bowl was $200.  Maybe if it was filled with chocolate.  I did not buy anything, a magnet was $10.  After the market we went to the other side of the island and saw more of the statues.  The island is 64 miles and 6000 people call it home!  They have over 3500 horses that run free all over the island.  No matter where you are there are horses in the middle to of the roads.  I am glad that we got to experience Easter Island would I come back?  Well if the ship was coming this way again yes but I probably would not get off.  Saw it, done it didn’t get the shirt because they were too expensive!  We gained an hour tonight and will for I think they said 4 days straight.  Loving this.  As you will see this was not uploaded as we have no internet for a couple of days.  This is really in the middle of nowhere. Our computer course is coming along.  We are working with pictures this segment.  I am also g working out with LeeAnne 3 x a week and walking the other 3 I rest on the 7^th day! 

Next stop Pitcairn Island!

Day 20 at sea

We are again at sea with so much to do and so little time.  Yesterday Nelda and I walked 2 miles around the promenade deck.  I had to stop after 2 miles Nelda kept going.

Last night we had a great dinner in Prego.  Bill had their famous mushroom soup in a bread bowl I had the Parma Ham, Sopersata, cheese and olives  for an appetizer.  We both had the veal special which was Veal Saltimbocca it was delicious  it was served with a mushroom pesto risotto.

WE went to the show after dinner and then we went into the Bistro for a late coffee.  I am not a coffee drinker but I am enjoying a café au lait with one splenda!  We brought the backgammon game and we played a few games.  I was losing terribly and Tyrun the Food and Beverage manager came over to talk to us and comment on the game.  He walked away and was my good luck charm I came back and won the game!!!!!  Couldn’t wait to see him today to tell him I came back to win.  He was shocked as Bill was almost all off and I was still not all home. 

Today I worked out with LeeAnne again for an hour and then went to the lecture by Sen. Bob Graham D-F who spoke about the unanswered questions of 9/11.  Nothing new he admits that Saudi Arabia was involved which we all figured out before.  We then went and had a salad for lunch and headed to our computer class.  Bill had to go back to the doctor yesterday for some more meds.  and one of them is making him really tired.  He left class and went to bed I headed to the Bistro for a café au lait!  Then went to a late lecture about the largest diamond ever found 3,1080 carats.  It was presented to King Heny V11 and was cut into 9 stones.  I would even take the smallest one 4.50 carat pear shape.  

We are going to see the show and then dinner.  Tomorrow we will be in Easter Island and I am looking forward to seeing the statues that I keep calling heads!

Day 19 (I think)

At Sea heading to Easter Island, Chile

Today was day 2 of our 4 consecutive sea days.  I was up early and working out with LeeAnne.  Yes I too can not believe that I am working out with a personal trainer even on vacation.  After my hour torture I met Bill for a light breakfast and he headed to the lecture.  I headed to the cove to drop off some paperwork. And to the shops as the battery on my watch stopped working.  Unfortunately I will have to wait until Tahiti and hopefully they will find an store that sells Omega watches.

I sat and gabbed with some people and then Ilene and I headed to the Bistro for our tea and Iced Coffee.  Bill met us after the lecture and  and before we knew it we had a light (soup) lunch and headed to our Computer class.

Bill is still not 100% but better than he was.  If he is not any better tomorrow he is suppose to go back to the dr.  He decided he wanted a cigar today has not had one in 5 days so he headed to  the cigar lounge.  I think he is much better if he could smoke and I am not going to listen to any complaints .  If he is well enough to smoke he is well enough to stop complaining!!!!!!

Tonight is a formal night and  we are headed down to have formal pictures taken.

The photo shop has offered a package for one price all the pictures they take and they even put it on a usb port for you.  Since I have no pictures I will be posting some the photographer has taken over the course of the cruise so far!  Hope you enjoy.  Days are going very quickly and I can’t believe that we are into the 2^nd segment of this World Cruise already.  Tonight is a cocktail party with the Captain and after dinner there is the production show Curtain Call.

Again I ponder how lucky we are to be able to  do this and thank God for all he has given us.

Day 18 @ sea enroute to Easter Island

Yesterday was a turn around day.  It ended the first segment so people got off and some new people got on.  Stan took whomever from our class who wanted to go and download some Apps we need for class.  We were there for a long time.  We did however get to Facetime with the kids.  Ran out of time I wanted to Facetime with Marrianne but I had to get back to the ship.

We are at sea today and will be for 4 days.  Bill is still not back to normal and I am still coughing also so it will be good to rest (HA HA).

Bill slept in this morning so I went up to breakfast at the Lido by myself and sat with Peggy, Elaine, Linda, and Janice.  Then Stan and Mary joined us.  We had great conversations going.  Stan who is the Del Mar College Professor and is teaching the course Bill and I are taking called Everything Apple was on an overland for 4 days on a train through the Andes.  He was the ship’s chaperone.  Mary was on  different trip to Machu Picchu as a chaperone. It was great hearing all about their adventures!   Everyone left except for Janice and I who stayed and chatted for quite awhile.  When I got back to the cabin I couldn’t find Bill so I just walked around the shops and Cove .  Finally found Bill he had gone to the lecture by Senator Bob Graham.  We went up for a light lunch and sat with Nelda and Sheldon and heard all about the train trip through the Andes as they did that excursion.  It was 12000 elevation so it wasn’t even an option for me with my Asthma nor was Machu Picchu.  I had a 3:30 manicure appointment so up I went.  After my manicure Bill and I walked 1 mile around the promenade deck.  It was quite windy at the bow and stern rounding those corners.  By the time we finished our walk it was time to shower and get changed.  Bill headed down to watch the Super Bowl.  I met him a little later.  The SuperBowl party is in the Galaxy Lounge They have a huge movie screen and two other screens set up.  It is all decorated with football stuff!  We decided to eat in there instead of going into the DR tonight they had all kinds of football food.  Popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken wings, jalepeno poppers, sandwiches, salad, potato salad and more. Sometimes you just need junk food and not all this gourmet stuff!   It is now ½ time and I am back in the room writing this.

At 9pm there is entertainment in the Stardust club  It is Crystal’s Kit Kat Club so if the game is over we will both head there if not I will head there and Bill will meet me when the game is finished.

Tomorrow 8:30am I will work out with LeeAnne my personal trainer.  Then on Tuesday Nelda and I have decided to be walking buddies so we will meet and walk 1 mile around the wrap around deck.  3 and ½ laps equal 1 mile!

There were so many activities today and I chose not to partake of any of them.  It felt good to just relax.  I have brought 2 bathing suits with me and have not been out by the pool yet.

If Bill is still not feeling better tomorrow he has to return to the doctor as he takes his last antibiotic in the am.  Mine I have another week of them. We start our new semester for our course and have 14 hours this segment!

Tomorrow is a formal night.  Trying to decide what to wear!
