Day 24 Pitcarin Island
Today we were in well near Pitcarin Island. They do not have a dock and the area where a tender could fit is way to rough so they fill their long boat and come out to us.
Only 43 people live here and one 3 year old. When kids finish grammar school the are sent the New Zealand for high school. Most do not come back. More than 30 people and the little one came aboard. They set up tables in the cove and up by the pool and by palm court with their wares. It was a feeding frenzy. Remember we had been at sea for quite a few days and these women were vicious. I did not want a repeat of Easter Island so I backed off. Unfortunately I really wanted to get some shirts but they were all gone quickly. We did get some wooden things and honey. These people had some beautiful things. They spent the day and at 3pm the mayor 6 th generation he is one of he carvers of the wooden platter we bought, He thanked us and they all sang some songs. They loaded into their long boat. Crystal gave them mattresses, carpets, food, soda, veggies and I don't know what else and they headed to the other side of the island. They are building a dock so if. We ever come back this way we will be able to go ashore.
We have been busy with our computer classes and I am taking a knitting class. It is bringing back memories of when I was pregnant with Chris and knitting a sweater to take him home from the hospital in. I would work in between being violently ill and my mother would come home look at it and rip it all out because she found a mistake! Finally finished that sweater to take Luke home from the hospital and never knitted again. Worked one day and next day had to rip it out bad bad memories coming back but I am making a scarf for Katrina so I will try and try.
Not able to post pictures will when I can
